Mord auf Schloss Haversham
Crime-comedy by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer & Henry Shields
(The Play That Goes Wrong)
translated by Martin Riemann
Imagine this: An amateur theatre group wants to put on a „who dunnit“ play. But everything goes sideways. By far the funniest play in the world. Mishaps and accidents will have you laughing non-stop.
Welcome to the premiere of The Play that Goes Wrong; a suspenseful british crime story in the vein of Agatha Christie. All participants are looking forward to the premiere. Everything will be fine.
Well, sort of. Doors can't be opened. Decoration is falling off the walls. Props are either missing or the wrong ones. Dialogue is all in the wrong order. It's mishap after mishap. The premiere is going more sideways by the minute. Anyway, the show must go on!
Ever since it's premiere in 2012, the british comedy is being played in London continuously. A slapstick explosion that will have fans of british humour in stitches. And not just them.

Mord auf Schloss Haversham in simple language
A theater groups wants to perform a play. A crime story. Everything goes wrong.
Doors do not work. Things fall down. Actors say the wrong text. But they keep playing.
The Play that Goes Wrong is a funny play.
With great success, Badische Landesbühne presented a play within a play – a play that goes wrong. Gag after gag, one burst of laughter after another, with surprising plot-twists.

The production is characterised by impeccable timing, suprising effects, and the constant play with mishaps. The actors navigate timing, chaos, and imminent desaster – and they deliver. I haven't had so much fun in a long time.

The ensemble delivered a bubbly performance based on impeccable timing. The actors shone in deliberately cut and dried roles (...) such a detailed costume and stage design is a rare feat for a travelling theatre.

Two and a half hours of uproarious fun - showstopping and long final applause, sore funny bones.

The actors excell in dialing the pseudo-amateurish spiel to the max. The stage technicians can't be praised enough.

Everything goes wrong – and perfectly so

A meticulously rehearsed play with amore than complex stage design. Franziska Smolarek must spent an eternity puzzling over it, the precision which the "accidents" happen is awe-inspiring.
