A spaceship crashes in a gravel quarry in the north of Baden. A person climbs from the wreckage and disappears. A group of musicians and actors embark on a quest to investigate.
What they find is a plethora of clues as who the alledged captain of the extraterrestial vehicle was. Or was it more than one person? The evidence points to it being a whole group of people:Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, The Thin White Duke, and many more.
It soon becomes clear that the spaceship belongs to David Bowie, the glamorous superstar. After all, he master of reinventing and presenting himself has been disappering time and again, only to reemerge as a completey different character playing a different type of music.
But who was David Bowie really? The closer you look, the more mysterious he gets. This is the experience of the group assembled by Alexander Schilling, sent out to investigate the live and work of David Bowie. It disusses the highlights of his career as well as its low points. It takes a brief look at his first marriage, his role as a father, and his collaborations with other artists. And they always end up facing the myth that David Bowie is, the man who evades any and all classifications.
Loving the Alien is a muscial and staged caleidoscope celebrating the exceptional british artist and his amazing music.
