Jannik und der Sonnendieb
A winter fairy tale by Henry Mason
First performance in Germany
In winter, when the night knows no end, people fear that a thief has stolen the sun. So Jannik embarks on a rescue mission. A fantastic fairy tale full of mythical creatures from the North.
Jannik and his family live in a village up north. Every year, when winter is at its darkest, they hold a celebration to the long night. During this celebration, they light the twelvemonth candle, so it can call back the sun and awake spring. This year, it is Jannik who may light the candle. But he can't. A thief has stolen the sun. The world is doomed to freeze!
On his icy quest to rescue the sun, Jannik meets the cold herself in her glittering garb, the moon who is craving for compliments, snow fox Ainuska with her fluffy fur, and his own heavy hunger. With the fox and his hunger as his companions, Jannik makes his way to the Hoarfrost Hills, always following the trail of the sun's tears.
