Monolog von John Clancy
A man stands on a stage, bathed in light. He is surrounded by an audience. He is an actor. He speaks. He talks about the audience. He talks about the situation of an actor speaking to an audience, to play for the audience.
Event by John Clancy is a comedic, yet irritating monolog about the weird event we call "theatre". A brilliant rumination about the stage has to say about reality.
The 75th anniversary of Badische Landesbühne, who's director Wolf E. Rahlfs is, is a good opportunity to return to the ordeal of playing a performance as an actor, which he originally is. Within the simplest of settngs, he contemplates his beloved art form. This minimalist situation - one actor, an audience - unleashes the power of persuasion. If everything goes according to plan, the audience will leave after the perfomance, convinced of having wasted their time - and not regretting it even one bit.

EVENT in simple language
In the play there is only one person: A man. He stands on stage and speaks. About theatre, about himself, about the people who watch. What he says makes you think, but i's also funny.
There are many questions: Who is the actor? Why is he an actor? Who wrote the text? Why did that person write the text? Who are the people that are watching? Why did they come? What do they expect? What happens with the actor and the people who are watching.
The man on stage thinks aloud about these questions.
