Midsummer
A play with music by David Greig & Gordon McIntyre
Translated by Barbara Christ
A lawyer, a petty criminal, and a bag full of money meet in a pub, pulling an allnighter. That spells adventure, danger, fun, and summer fever in the middle of winter. Not to forget live music. Maybe a happy end? Who knows.
An a midsummer night, two people – Helena and Bob – meet in a pub. She is a divorce layer, stood up by her affaire, he is a petty criminal, waiting for his next job. They get drunk and have a one-night stand. By a fluke of fate, they run into each other again the following day. Both are on the run: Bob runs from his boss after a botched job; Helena runs from her sister's wedding. Actually, it's Helena's fault the wedding is now in shambles. So they do what any sensible person would do: They take the 15,000 Pounds that belong to Bob's boss and go on a bender. Only to realise that it's not too late change your life.
The play with music by David Greig & Gordon McIntyre combines wit, lightness, and entrancement with the big questions in life. (The answer is 42.)
