Oddities from André Becker's bookshelf
Imagine standing in front of your bookshelf, pulling out and leafing through a title you read ages ago. After a couple of pages, you get lost in that world again, it brings you joy and excitement …
I, André Becker, invite you to join the reading salon at theater treppab. With the help of members of our ensemble I will introduce you to some oddities from my personal bookshelf.
Refreshingingly different romantic novels, crime without a murderer, wrongly forgotten classics, recommendations for the summer holidays – everything is possible, nothing is predictable. The one thing we know is: We'll enthusiastically read from our favourite books, to discover unusual, edgy, touching works.
A novel of seemingly scandinavian short crime by Johan Harstad, centered around investigator Frisch. A book for people who like crime stories, but hate reading. Painstakingly edited, and with extensive commentary by a literary scholar. Humorous, odd, mysterious. A pleasure to read and listen.

Wintertime is the time of fairy tales, also for grown-ups. Michael Köhlmeier has written a book full of contemporary faity tales for adults: He doesn't re-tell the same old stories, he invented new, disturbing, and uncanny stories.
On 10 December we'll read some of our favourites from this volume.
Because: "Once upon a time … “ that's all the time.

What would a 'Heimatroman' sound like today? Pedro Lenz tackled the issue in 2010, with his Der Goalie bin ig (li. 'I am the goal keeper'), confronting the likable loser Goalie with Swiss stodginess.
Not only did the novel become a bestseller in Switzerland, is also won André Becker's heart, reminding him of his homeland.
On 18 February, you'll hear the novel in written and spoken Swiss: an audible pleasure, plucked from live itself.

New System of Freedom or the Conspiracy against Love
by Charlotte von Stein
Yep, you've read that right: Charlotte von Stein has written plays. Four of them are known - and still somehow forgotten. Her comedy New System of Freedom or the Conspiracy against Love is full of courageous men, women consumed with love, and an misanthropist who writes pamphlets against love. Charlotte von Stein exaggerates the set gender-system in way that brings out it's hypocrisy. And the comedic wedding will surely be followed by the tragedy of being married.
